13             AN  ACT relating to income taxation; providing check-off for the contri-
14             butions to the national World War II memorial fund.
16       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
17             Section  1.  (a) For tax years 2000 and 2001, each Kansas state indi-
18       vidual income tax return form shall contain a designation as follows:
19             Kansas World War II Memorial Fund. Check if you wish to donate, in
20       addition to your tax liability, or designate from your refund, ____$1,
21       ____$5, ____$10, or $____.
22             (b) The director of taxation of the department of revenue shall de-
23       termine annually the total amount designated for contribution to the Kan-
24       sas World War II Memorial Fund pursuant to subsection (a) and shall
25       report such amount to the state treasurer who shall credit the entire
26       amount thereof to the Kansas World War II Memorial Fund which fund
27       is hereby established in the state treasury. In the case where donations
28       are made pursuant to subsection (a), the director shall remit the entire
29       amount thereof to the state treasurer who shall credit the same to such
30       fund. All moneys deposited in such fund shall be used solely for the
31       purpose of providing contributions to the World War II Memorial Society
32       on behalf of Kansas for the benefit of the World War II memorial to be
33       located in Washington, D.C. All expenditures from such fund shall be
34       made in accordance with appropriation acts upon warrants of the director
35       of accounts and reports payable to the World War II Memorial Society
36       issued pursuant to vouchers approved by the state treasurer. 
37        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
38       publication in the statute book.
