Animal identification and premise registration is a national program for animal health monitoring and surveillance. It applies to all types of livestock as well as ostriches, emus, rheas, llamas, alpacas, domestic deer, elk, poultry and aquatic farming. Currently, livestock producers may register their premises through either KAHD or the national website. The ultimate goal of the program is to allow state and federal animal health officials to quickly track and eradicate an outbreak of an infectious or contagious livestock disease.
