                Volunteer Oportunities

There are many volunteer opportunities for legal assistants in our community. Below are some of the opportunities available.

Wichita Children's Home - BRIDGES Program

The BRIDGES Program provides transitional supervised living arrangements to homeless and runaway youth.  BRIDGES stands for Building Responsibility and Independence through Developing Goals andEmpowerment Skills.

KALA has committed to cooking dinner with these teenagers on the third Friday of each month.  Typically, a team of three KALA members plan a menu and send it to Wichita Children's Home (they do the shopping).  We cook and eat from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  It is a very worthwhile activity.  Hope you’ll join us!  If you would like to participate, please contact Shelly Bird, ACP.

A hundred years from now it will not matter
what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in,
or the kind of car I drove...
but the world may be different
because I was important in the life of a child.

Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection, Inc. (LAPP) is a Wichita, Kansas based non-profit animal rescue and adoption kennel. Volunteers have dedicated their time and hearts to save animals that have been abandoned, abused or were relinguished by their owners. LAPP tries to rescue animals from other over-flowing shelters to save them from being euthanized. The kennel does not euthanize animals.

If you would like more information about volunteering or if you would like to donate to the LAPP program, please contact Sharon Kincaid, CLA

Wichita River Festival (seasonal) If you have questions about KALA's voluneer opportunities during the Wichita River Festival, please contact Annette Meece, CLA.

KALA for Kids is our revival of our previous Franklin community project. John Masters is heading up the committee and is eager to help not only Franklin Elementary, but other low-income Wichita public schools that are in desperate need of school supplies (pens, papers, crayons, glue, etc.), new or gently used backpacks and clothes ranging from sizes 4 to 12 (boys and girls), and weather gear such as gloves, scarves and hats. If you would like information regarding this committee or would like to volunteer, please contact John Masters.
