AdministrationThe Administrative Services Unit, consisting of the director, associate director, deputy director, assistant directors and an assistant attorney general, manages the KBI. The unit also includes, and is supported by, the Human Resources Office and the Business Office. The KBI consists of three major programs, Investigations, Forensic Laboratory and Criminal Justice Information Services. In addition to KBI Headquarters at Topeka, the KBI maintains regional offices at Overland Park, Great Bend and Wichita. The KBI is authorized 85 special agent positions and approximately 150 civilian employees. Special agents are assigned at headquarters, all regional offices and throughout the state, at strategic locations. |
