Frequently Asked Questions
How do I request a hearing?
Our office requires a written request which can be made via mail, fax, or email. Send your request to the Executive Director and sign it. Include your case number, make your request, and include the reason(s) you are making the request.
When will my hearing take place?
Hearings take place at the Kansas Board of Cosmetology. Felony review hearings are held the second Monday of each month. All other hearings are scheduled at the discretion of the Office of Administrative Hearings.
How long do I have to request a hearing?
You have 15 days from the date printed on the Certificate of Service to request a hearing.
How do I pay my fine?
You can submit a check or money order to our office in the regular mail. Credit card payments may be accepted via mail, fax, or email. You must include your name, case number, credit card number, expiration date, amount of payment, and signature.
What if I can’t pay the whole fine right now?
We are happy to work with you! Write a letter to our office requesting a payment plan. Payments have to be made on a monthly basis. Let us know how much you want to pay by a specific date each month and we’ll send you a Payment Agreement and Schedule to sign and return with your first installment.
Do I have to pay my fine?
Yes! Outstanding fines cause a hold to be placed on your facility license and/or your personal license. KBOC will not process any request or renewals on these licenses until outstanding fines are paid in full. Additionally, failure to make timely payment may result in your case being turned over to the Kansas Debt Set-Off program and revocation of your license.
