Homeland Security Training Program
The Department of Homeland Security/FEMA provides a wide variety of awareness and skills courses for all state and local first responders through the members of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC). The majority of the NDPC courses are available free of charge. Courses can be delivered on-line, at the NDPC facility, or in Kansas. Each provider has individual application forms, but all applications should be sent to Paula Phillips at Kansas Emergency Management (2800 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, KS 66611; fax: 785-274-1914).

Regional Homeland Security Councils wishing to bring DHS-Approved or Non-DHS Approved courses must contact Paula Phillips before making any arragements for training. All requests for these courses must be initiated from the Training Office to the vendor. Course requests must be approved and coordinated through the State Authorized Agent's Training Point of Contact (Paula Phillips)
Emergency Management Institute
The Emergency Management Institute provides general emergency management training on-line and at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD.

National Incident Management System (NIMS) & Incident Command System (ICS) Training
Intermediate Incident Command System (ICS-300) and Advanced Incident Command System (ICS-400) courses are offered by Kansas Emergency Management. Check the calendar for courses in your area. If you would like to request a course, complete the course request form.

Field delivery of ICS-300 & ICS-400 may also be provided by Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute, and Kansas Emergency Management may provide these courses with a request through the county emergency manager.
Hazardous Materials Training
Hazardous Materials courses are offered by Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute and Kansas Fire Marshall's Office and the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium providers.
