Kansas Prairie Pickers Association
The Shyster Mountain Gang has been performing in Topeka and N.E. Kansas for over
fifteen years. Their engagements include the Apple Festival, Cider Days, Elmont Opry,
bluegrass festivals, the State Historical Museum, local coffeehouses, fairs, conventions
and so on. The group originally consisted of four attorneys, and they were known as the
Shyster Mountain "Boys." But beginning in 1997 things began to change. Today, six
musicians carry on the Shyster Mountain tradition.
- Seth Valerius - As attorney in Topeka, originally from Liberal, Seth is also
a songwriter. Seth plays lead guitar and mandolin, and sings tenor.
- J.B. King - Born in West Virginia and spent part of his childhood in
Kentucky, giving him a rich country/bluegrass music background. J.B. plays bass
and performs special numbers. He is an attorney in Topeka.
- Glenn Osborn - Has a long history as a musician in Topeka and N.E. Kansas.
For years he performed as a member of the "Pleasant Valley Gang" on radio and T.V.
He also is a featured performer of the Elmont Opry. Glenn plays dobro with the
- Larry Dimmitt - One of the "charter members" of the group, and an
attorney, Larry plays 5-string banjo and sings. He also performs at his church
and at the Elmont Opry.
