FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 5, 2005 NINE MEMBERS OF THE 35th MILITARY POLICE COMPANY DEPLOY TO DJIBOUTI,
AFRICA On April 4, 2005, a small contingent of soldiers from the Kansas National
Guard's 35th Military Police Company left their home in Topeka to begin
a 12-month deployment overseas in support of the War on Terror. These
soldiers are being sent to Schofield Barracks in Hawaii where they will
be attached to 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry Regiment, Guam Army National
Guard. The detachment will leave for Djibouti, in the horn of Africa,
on June 1 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. From their base in Djibouti they will be a personal security detachment
for high ranking officials going into and out of the combat zone visiting
troops and conducting diplomatic visits to other nations. -30- |
