FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 8, 2007 No. 07-100 35th MILITARY POLICE HEADING TO IRAQ Approximately 170 soldiers of the 35th Military Police Company will be honored during a departure ceremony on Tuesday, June 12 at Hayden High School, 401 Gage, Topeka. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. The soldiers will mobilize to Texas for additional training before deploying to Iraq for a one-year mission in military police operations. The unit is headquartered in Topeka and is commanded by Maj. Robert Stinson. Approximately 85 soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 635th Armor, headquartered in Manhattan, were transferred to the 35th Military Police Company to complete the unit. These soldiers are well-trained, excellent at what they do and dedicated to their mission, said Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the adjutant general. We wish them well and want them to know our thoughts and prayers go with them and their families. Members of the Patriot Guard will also be present at the ceremony.
