FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 18, 2007 No. 07-153 UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEM SYMPOSIUM SET FOR OCT. 2-4 IN SALINA The Kansas National Guard, the Salina Airport Authority and the Salina
Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting the second annual Kansas Unmanned
Aerial System Symposium October 2-4 at the Kansas Regional Training Institute,
2850 Scanlan Ave, Salina. Academia, military and business professionals
with an aviation interest have been invited to share ideas and products
and learn about potential applications for unmanned aerial systems in
their fields of expertise. A wide cross section of speakers representing the Department of Homeland
Security, FEMA, United States Air Force Unmanned Aircraft Program Office,
Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, U. S. Army Unmanned
Aerial Vehicle Systems Redstone Arsenal, Drexel University, University
of South Florida and more have been invited to speak on "Joint Operations
in Constrained Airspace." Symposium participants will also be able to see the advantages of the
Great Plains Joint Regional Training Center. The goal of the Great Plains
Joint Regional Training Center is to provide integrated training involving
air and ground assets. The center is ideal for organizations requiring
a co-located air/ground testing and evaluation center. The benefit to
both governmental agencies and private industries is the ability to evaluate
the results of an exercise/flight test with all the players present. The Great Plains Joint Regional Training Center includes Smoky Hill Weapons
Range, Kansas Regional Training Institute, Fort Riley and the Salina Municipal
