FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Nov. 5, 2007 No. 07-169 MARLAR TO BE GUEST SPEAKER FOR VETERANS DAY EVENT IN HUTCHINSON Lt. Col. Timothy Marlar of the Kansas National Guard will be the guest speaker for a Veterans Day event in Hutchinson on Sunday, Nov. 11. The event will take place at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1361, 328 Van Buren. The celebration also marks the posts 75th anniversary. Marlar is director of personnel for the Military Personnel Office, Joint Forces Headquarters Kansas Land Component. Marlar entered the Army National Guard in 1974 and received his commission in 1986. During his career, he has served in a variety of positions, including battery executive officer, battalion training officer, battalion personnel officer, battery commander, company fire support officer, battalion fire support officer, battalion training officer, division artillery training officer, fire direction officer, Recruiting Command commander, division artillery operations officer, and battalion commander. Marlars awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon with star, Army Service Ribbon and Master Recruiter Badge. Marlar and his wife, Karen, and son, Storm, live in Newton. -30- |
