FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Nov. 7, 2007 No. 07-171 LANGLEY, KANSAS NATIONAL GUARDSMAN, TO BE GUEST SPEAKER FOR VETERANS
DAY EVENT IN OLATHE 1st Lt. Courtney Langley, Kansas National Guard, will be the guest speaker
for a Veterans Day event in Olathe on Sunday, Nov. 11. The event will
take place at American Legion Post 153, 4110 Dennis Ave. and will begin
at 11 a.m. Langley received a commission as a second lieutenant through the Kansas
State University Army ROTC program in May 2004. She has served as a platoon
leader with the 778th Transportation Company since September 2003, including
one year of active duty serving in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi
Freedom. Her military education includes General Wheel Mechanic AIT, Heavy Equipment
Transport Operator Certification Course and Transportation Office Basic
Course. Langleys military awards include the Army Service Ribbon, Global
War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Ribbon and Reserve Component
Medal with M Device. Langley is a graduate of Portsmouth (R.I.) High School and Kansas State
University in Manhattan, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree
in elementary education. In her civilian career, she is an elementary
school teacher at Hadley Middle School in Wichita, Kan. -30- |
