Long-Term Community Recovery Team Seeks Residents Input
GREENSBURG, Kan. – The Greensburg and Kiowa County Long-Term Community Recovery (LTCR) team is seeking input on the community's draft Recovery Plan. The opportunity for reviewing the plan starts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, under the community tent in Davis Park. The Draft Plan was developed by the community with assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) technical assistance team. This plan will be the roadmap to recovery for Greensburg and Kiowa County.
"It's time for us to come together to review and evaluate the projects and programs that we see as shaping our future," says County Commissioner Gene West. "The Long-Term Community Recovery Plan is a guide for future development, decision making and prioritizing resources. It identifies those projects and programs that will be catalysts for additional development and examples of the vision of the community," added Steve Castaner, branch director for the LTCR team.
Participants in the Thursday's open house will be able to review the plan and provide comments about the direction of the project and the importance of the projects. Members of the stakeholder committees and LTCR team will be on hand for one-on-one discussions of ideas that have been generated by the community over the last twelve weeks.
Dinner will be provided to Kiowa County residents by a variety of regional restaurants. A short presentation will follow the dinner to outline the plan then participants will be able to view each project and post their comments.
