TOPEKA BUSINESS TO RECEIVE EMPLOYER SUPPORT OF THE GUARD AND RESERVE AWARD

Walgreens will be the recipient of an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Award for the Kansas National Guard. The award will be presented on Wednesday, June 18, 10 a.m. at the Walgreens located at 1001 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka. Both James Tignor, Walgreens store manager; and Jeffery McKillop, Walgreens district manager; will receive the ESGR “My Boss is a Patriot Award.”

Walgreens employs Sgt. Michael Mathewson, a traditional Kansas National Guardsmen, who is assigned to the 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation. During the week he is assigned to the 35th Military Police rear detachment. Mathewson nominated Tignor for the ESGR award because of his support during Mathewson’s two deployments. Tignor held Mathewson’s job open for him during his deployments and keeps in regular contact with Mathewson to ensure that he and his family are okay.
