KANSAS SPEEDWAY DONATES RACE TICKETS TO KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD

In a show of support for the men and women of the Kansas National Guard, Kansas Speedway has donated approximately 2,500 tickets to the Guard for the upcoming NASCAR Camping World Truck Series O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 on Saturday, April 25. The tickets are being distributed to Kansas National Guard personnel on a “first-come, first-served” basis.

“Racing is a great family event,” said Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the adjutant general.  “And if there’s one thing we’re all about, it’s families.  That’s why we put on the uniform. That’s why we do what we do—to safeguard our families and our way of life.”

“Generous donations like this let our Soldiers and Airmen know they are appreciated for their role in protecting our freedoms,” continued Bunting.  “On behalf of everyone in the Kansas National Guard, I want to express my sincere thanks to Jeff Boerger and Kansas Speedway.”

“The men and women of the Kansas National Guard do so much for us,” said Jeff Boerger, president of Kansas Speedway.  “These tickets are just a way to say ‘Thank you’ for the sacrifices you and your families make on our behalf.”

In the past, Kansas Speedway has donated tickets to other race events and has allowed their facilities to be used for Kansas National Guard training events.

In addition to the donation of tickets, Indy Racing League drivers will be signing autographs for Kansas National Guard members and their families Thursday, April 23, at the Topeka South Armory. Indy Racing League driver Dan Wheldon, Panther Racing owner John Barnes and other associated IRL National Guard Team members will be on hand from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m

A National Guard IRL race car will be on display and available for those in attendance to take photographs. All members of the Kansas National Guard are encouraged to attend.

Kansas Speedway hosts the Indy Car Series - Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 on Sunday, April 26.
