KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD INVOLVEMENT IN MEMORIAL DAY EVENTS ACROSS THE STATE

Several members of the Kansas National Guard will be guest speakers at Memorial Day events across the state.

Brig. Gen. Deborah Rose, director of the Joint Staff, Joint Forces Headquarters Kansas, will be the guest speaker at a ceremony on Friday, May 22 at 10 a.m. at the Richard Bolling Federal Building, 601 East 12th Street, Kansas City, Mo.  The ceremony is being held for federal employees who work in the Bolling Building.

Brig. Gen. John Davoren, Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Kansas Army National Guard, and Commander of the Land Component for the Joint Force Headquarters-Kansas, will be the guest speaker at a ceremony being held on Monday, May 25 at Penwell-Gable Cemetery and Mausoleum, 3616 SW 6th Ave., Topeka.  The ceremony starts at 11 a.m.  The public is invited to attend.

Capt. Jeff Howell, company commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, Joint Forces Headquarters-Kansas,  Kansas Army National Guard, Topeka, will be the guest speaker at a ceremony in Clay Center on Monday, May 25.  The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. and will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery on the north edge of town.  In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the American Legion Post, 816 5th St., Clay Center.  The public is invited to attend.

1st Lt. Shawn Johnson, platoon leader of Battery A, 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery, Concordia, will be the guest speaker at a ceremony in Clifton, Kan., on Monday, May 25. The public ceremony, sponsored by the Clifton American Legion Post, will begin at 10 a.m. in Berner Memorial Park.

The 190th Air Refueling Wing, Kansas Air National Guard, will also be providing flyovers at numerous Memorial Day ceremonies across the state.  Some of the cities that they will fly over include Wilson, Dorrance, Russell, Victoria, Hays, Ellis, Wakeeney, Collyer, Quinter, Park, Grainfield, Grinnell, Oakley, Winona, Wallace, Sharon Springs, Scott City, Syracuse, Lakin, Deerfield, Holcomb, Garden City, Fort Dodge, Greensburg, Pratt, Kingman and Winfield.
