The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) is looking to gain insight into social networking as it pertains to small business marketing. They are asking assistance from other state SBDC offices to help in their research. If you would like to help, please take their 10-15 minute survey that examines your thoughts on social networking sites like Twitter. Even if you do not use social networking websites, they would like to hear from you! Click here to take the survey Thank you for your time!

Featured Success Story

Acorn Valley Custom Cabinetry
Owners: Jim Houston and Bob Greif

After 20 years of working for other cabinet companies, Bob Greif and Jim Houston started Acorn Valley Custom Cabinetry in 2001 making cabinets in the evenings after work and on weekends. After a few years of this, Bob and Jim desired to go full-time with the business, but knew they would need working capital to be able to quit their day jobs. That was when they contacted the KSBDC at Pittsburg State University for assistance with developing a business plan, guidance on marketing strategies, and sales projections. As a result, they were able to obtain an SBA guaranteed loan through their bank and realize their dream of working full-time for themselves.
