Exit planning for the Family Business
Exit planning is both an inevitable and necessary component of every family business enterprise. Whether you are transitioning ownership from one generation to the next or selling the business to an outside buyer, there are foundational structures and thought processes that can enhance the likelihood of a positive and productive change. KSBDC is one of several sponsors for workshops to be held throughout the state in September and October.

Owners: Louaine Knoll and Sonnie Baird, Garden City

A store where the primary purpose is to make people smile was the ultimate goal of Sondra "Sonnie" Baird and Louaine Knoll. Sonnie had served in public positions for 35 years and felt it was time for a change. Louaine was running Perfect Occasions, a party/wedding business out of her home and wanted a retail facility. Q: Is there a charge for KSBDC services?
A: No, KSBDC consulting services are at no cost to the client. Several workshops and seminars might have a fee. We also offer no-cost online virtual training.

Q: How many KSBDC locations are there?
A: There are eight regional centers and ten outreach centers.

Q: Will a KSBDC consultant provide assistance in writing a business plan?
A: The KSBDC counseling approach is one of guidance and education, not of doing the work for the client. The KSBDC will provide resources and assistance in the process of writing your business plan.

Q: Does the KSBDC work with existing businesses?
A: Yes, the KSBDC has numerous resources for established business owners. Our consultants can assist in many areas of managing and maintaining your business.
