KANSAS STATE BOARD OF MORTUARY ARTS
Updated ECONOMIC IMPACT STATEMENT
K.A.R. 63-4-1
I. Summary of Proposed Regulation, Including Its Purpose.
The proposed amendments to K.A.R. 63-4-1 would allow the board to charge a $50 assistant funeral director examination fee.
II. Reason or Reasons the Proposed Regulation Is Required, Including Whether or Not the Regulation is Mandated by Federal Law.This regulation is not mandated by federal law, and, therefore, the regulation does not exceed the requirements of federal law.
III. Anticipated Economic Impact upon the Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts. The
new fee would constitute new income to the agency. Since this license
has
previously been available without an examination, it is expected that
the number of
applicants will decrease–resulting in no additional revenue to the
agency.
The Board does not anticipate any economic impact on other governmental agencies.
V. Anticipated Economic Impact upon Licensees or Applicants for Licensure.
There would be an increased cost of $50 per application for an assistant funeral director license. With the agency’s on-going efforts of being fiscally responsible, increased costs and dropping ending balances, no other methods were considered.
A public hearing was held at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2007 in the office of the Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts (KSBMA.) No one from the public attended the meeting. The regulation was adopted at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2008 in the office of the Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts.
Respectfully submitted,
Kansas
