Kansas.gov Services

Kansas.gov, a service of the Information Network of Kansas, Inc. (INK), serves as the eGovernment portal for the state of Kansas facilitating transactions between state agencies and their constituents. Kansas.gov operates under the self-funding model whereby revenue is derived from fees users pay for value-added online services. We continuously develop new services at no cost to the state.

Project Management

Kansas.gov works with state agencies to identify services that, when Web enabled, can provide maximum benefit to agencies and your constituents. Project opportunities may be initiated by agencies, customer demand or inspiration from a successful service being provided by other eGovernment portals. Once identified, services are prioritized and added to the Kansas.gov development queue.

A Kansas.gov project manager will work closely with you to keep the project running smoothly. This includes understanding your current process and finding the best way to move the process online.

Consultation

Kansas.gov will provide advice to any unit of state government on your Web site or Web applications. We have experts in programming, accessibility, usability, design, project management and marketing to help make your online service or site successful.

Development

Kansas.gov has a team of dedicated and talented Web application developers experienced in eGovernment. We will work with you to create an application that meets your needs and your constituents' needs. These applications are developed at no cost to the state. Kansas.gov derives revenue from fees citizens and businesses pay for value-added online services.

Marketing

Kansas.govs' marketing team will work with your agency to promote your Web site or application. Depending on the size of the project, we can offer advice, create a marketing plan and/or implement a marketing plan.

Our standard marketing techniques include highlighting the service on Kansas.gov, distributing news releases, demonstrating the new service to community groups, creating flyers and sending direct mail to your constituents. Each Web service is different and we look for new and unique ways to get the word out. We will help as little or as much as you'd like.

Web site Hosting

Kansas.gov will host a Web site for an agency that lacks internal capabilities. We have invested in an infrastructure that provides maximum "up-time" for our services. A dedicated server hosts state Web applications that interface with backend systems (including the state mainframe). A secure socket layer server (SSL) is also utilized to encrypt private information such as customer credit card transactions.

If a customer has a question or problem while using a Kansas.gov service, assistance is available by phone, e-mail or online live chat. Our help center staff are well versed in all Kansas.gov services are able to assist customers knowledgeably and quickly.

eCommerce & Payment Processing

Kansas.gov can help state agencies manage eCommerce transactions through KanPay. KanPay is a centralized payment processing system that stores order information, initiates financial transactions, tracks funds, disburses funds and provides security measures. KanPay is integrated with the State Treasurer's Office. This payment system supports electronic check (ACH) transactions and credit card transactions.
