Maintaining: What is involved in maintaining a Web site?

Kansas.gov plays a key role in the development of eGovernment solutions for the State of Kansas. Kansas.gov coordinates with many state agencies, departments, commissions and associations to develop Web sites and applications. We also host Web sites for these partners and provide Web templates.

While Kansas.gov supports all of its partners on an on-going basis, it is the agency webmaster's responsibility to maintain the Web sites built by Kansas.gov.

  1. Scheduling - How often should I update my site?
How often you update your site depends on your site and the type of content you are presenting.
  2. Training - What do people need to know to maintain our site?
Ensure your staff is effectively trained to update your site.
  3. Monitoring - How do I track our site's performance?
To make sure your site is communicating your message in the best way you need to develop a monitoring plan.
  4. Enhancing - How often should I update my site?
A Web site is never "complete." Suggestions from your users, new personnel, and new services can create avenues for you to reevaluate your Web site and add features.
  5. Customer feedback - How do customers contact us and how do we respond?
Customers are the reason you built your site, so it's important to track their comments and feedback.
