Maintaining: Enhancing -When do I need an enhancement?

As you maintain and monitor your site, you may notice areas where major changes need to be made. Maybe a process has been expanded, staff and departments have grown, or you have received a lot of feedback that one area may need to be developed further for better user experience.

For whatever reason you want to make a change that goes beyond the scope of routine maintenance but is not a site redesign. You want to develop an enhancement. Enhancements can improve a site without making changes to the overall site. Enhancements are generally used to add interaction to a site. Making big changes without changing much of the site structure.

To compare a Web site to a house -- maintenance is cleaning, a redesign is a remodel and painting a room is an enhancement.
