Home > Marketing > Site Promotion Marketing: Site PromotionThere are several ways to market your Web site. Everything you do to get visitors to your site is marketing. For accessKansas applications, we will work closely with you to implement these techniques. Below are some standard Web site marketing techniques:
News releasesWrite and distribute a news release for new services or enhancements to existing services. News releases give the media (newspapers, TV, radio and magazines) the basic information about the service, highlight the value of the service and provide quotes from people involved with creating the service and/or users of the service. Hopefully media outlets will take this information and write a story about your site. But a news release doesn’t guarantee coverage. Whether or not a release is used can depend on many factors including media’s perception of the newsworthiness of the release, space they have available and what else it happening in the community. A slow news day works in your favor. If you are working with Kansas.gov on an application, we will be happy to write a draft release for your review. We can also distribute the release once you approve it. In addition to distributing the release to media statewide we will post the release in the news center on the Kansas.gov home page. < top
Kansas.gov (state Web site)As a part of each partnership agreement, Kansas.gov agrees to promote partner Web sites through our home page (http://www.Kansas.gov). Linked logos, banners and text advertising new and/or timely Web content and Web applications will be placed on the Kansas.gov home page at our discretion. In return, partners are required to include a few standard items in their Web pages. These required page elements include:
In addition to these requirements, partner sites are prohibited from linking to Web sites that endorse, support or otherwise promote:
If there are any questions as to the appropriateness of links from partner sites to third party sites, webmasters are encouraged to discuss the issue with the Kansas.gov director of marketing. < top
Stationery, outgoing documents and phone hold messagesTo encourage people to visit your Web site include your Web address on everything you print. This includes letterhead, business cards, advertising and forms. It’s also helpful to list your Web address and information about the Web site on your phone hold messages. While someone is holding for customer assistance they can learn about the Web site. They may even end the call and visit the Web site instead. < top
