Formation

In 1999, the Special Operations Division (SOD) began a pilot program to develop regional drug investigative task forces. The SEKDETF, which covers Cherokee, Crawford, Labette, Allen, Bourbon and Neosho counties, became the first of such task forces in the state. The SEKDETF's mission is to reduce the level of drug trafficking and the availability of illegal drugs in the regions. A related goal is to make a significant impact on the level of violence and property crime associated with the use and trafficking of illegal drugs.
